Turbine Roof Replacement

ICI was awarded the contract to remove approximately 8,000 square feet of built up roofing to replace 40 tons of damaged structural steel consisting of structural beams, (2) 90’ trusses and associated roof drain piping. A scaffold dance floor was erected under the damaged roof structure to aid in protection of the turbine floor below and provide a safe working platform for the craft personnel. The customer elected to replace the balance of the turbine roof area which consisted of an additional 12,000 square feet of the built up roof system. Subcontractors were used to perform abatement of the old roofing and install the new EPDM roof over the entire turbine roof area. In addition, there was approximately 7,500 square feet of damaged interior wall paneling that was replaced after the roof was completed. The roof replacement was completed in 10 weeks with zero impact to plant operations or power generation.
